The new collaborative single from Kasabian and Calvin Harris, Release The Pressure, has arrived. Below is Kasabian Archive’s first impressions of the track following early previews and a full listen.

The track opens with the familiar, repetitive, spacey guitar line heard throughout the teasers released so far. Serge’s reverberated vocal enters shortly after, delivering the opening lines, “We arrive at the same place / Hypnotised by the lights upon your face,” which set the tone for the first verse. While the verses sit comfortably within the track’s overall structure, it is immediately apparent that this is not a typical Kasabian release, either musically or in terms of Serge’s usual songwriting style. Lyrically, however, the theme appears to fit Serge very well.

Around forty seconds in, the song moves into the pre-chorus, “Now we’re finally here together / Seeing you relieves the pressure,” a section already familiar from preview clips. This leads into the chorus, where the title phrase is repeated six times, forming the track’s central hook.

Following the chorus, the middle eight introduces lyrics previously heard in promotional material, “We were so far from home / Lost down a rabbit hole,” before the track returns once again to the chorus. The song then closes with a shortened outro taken from the extended preview, which appears to be the remainder of the original mix that fades out earlier on the main version.

Overall, this is a strong release from two of the UK’s major festival names, particularly given that the collaboration arrived with little warning for fans of both Kasabian and Calvin Harris. It will be interesting to see how Kasabian handle the track moving forward, especially whether it finds a place in the band’s live sets over the summer.

The main criticism, however, is that much of the track’s impact was spoilt by the previews released ahead of its launch. As a result, there is relatively little in the final version that listeners had not already heard prior to release.

Release The Pressure is released on 6 February 2026 on 12-inch and 7-inch vinyl, CD, and across all major streaming platforms.
