LYRICS
Eighteen new soldiers in a line
That’ll send a shiver down your spine
I was on the backseat
Trying to talk to the driver
Said what you doing?
Why all this hate?
You’re not special
We’re no different
I’m a soldier but I never hurt no one
Giving out my love is such a thrill
On a ghoster working on production lines
Never had my thing inside the till
Eighteen new visions of your death
Try and do a Blaine and hold your breath
You were in a high viz
Sucking down the worm
Why can’t a nation of drinker
Be a nation of thinkers?
Just because I’m paranoid
Doesn’t mean I’m not being followed
I’m a soldier but I never hurt no one
Giving out my love is such a thrill
On a ghoster working on production lines
Never had my thing inside the till
And I know its gonna cause confusion
And I know its gonna be just right
You’re all looking in the wrong direction
Trying to keep your head above the line
And I know its gonna cause confusion
And I know its gonna be just right
You’re all looking in the wrong direction
Trying to keep your head above the line
You’re all looking in the wrong direction
You’re all looking in the wrong direction
You’re all looking in the wrong direction
You’re all looking in the wrong direction
I’m a soldier
But I never hurt no one
I’m a soldier
But I never hurt no one
I’m a soldier
I’m a soldier
Info:
Soldiers 00018 is the fifth track on Sergio Pizzorno’s debut solo album, THE S.L.P., released on 30 August 2019.
The song was inspired by an unpleasant taxi journey during which Serge’s driver began expressing hateful opinions about Britain and the people he blamed for the country’s problems.
Serge used the experience to write an aggressive-sounding song with the opposite message. Rather than responding to anger with more anger, Soldiers 00018 centres around making yourself heard without violence or hatred and attempting to put positive energy back into the world.
Quotes:
“This came from a depressing cab ride.” – Sergio Pizzorno, 2019
