Meanwhile… At the Welcome Break is the sixth track on THE S.L.P. and the middle section of the album’s three-part “Meanwhile…” sequence.

The three tracks originated from music Sergio Pizzorno had written for an unused film score and were used as the beginning, middle and end of THE S.L.P.’s loose narrative. Meanwhile… In Genova opens the album, while Meanwhile… In The Silent Nowhere closes it.

Serge conceived Meanwhile… At the Welcome Break as the album’s intermission, imagining a motorway service station in the middle of a long journey and a moment to step away from the constant flow of information before continuing.

The track features slowthai. Serge originally imagined an aggressive rap verse over the cinematic music, but slowthai instead returned a more melodic and psychedelic vocal, which Serge felt transformed the track in an unexpected way.
