Come Back Down was an early Saracuse track which went through several different arrangements during the band’s sessions at Bedrock Studios in Leicester.
In Sound, Movement and Empire, Joe Shooman documents the song across three separate Bedrock sessions. A version identified as Come Back Down (Bedrock Studio Mix) was recorded during the band’s second studio session in 1999, followed by an acoustic demo during their third session later that year.
A further version was recorded during Saracuse’s final Bedrock session on 21 September 2000. Shooman describes this incarnation as a funkier arrangement and notes that the band were continuing to experiment with the song, developing different versions from the comparatively raw acoustic arrangement.
A remix was also created during the September 2000 session using a bell-like sample loop which Bedrock producer Scott Gilbert had supplied to the band as part of a collection of loops and samples.
The song was later circulated under the alternate title Gone So Far. Shooman’s selected demos list includes Gone So Far (Bedrock Studio Mix) on a three-track 2001 demo alongside Processed Beats and Rain On My Soul.
Several recordings of Come Back Down have since surfaced.
