In Sound, Movement and Empire, Joe Shooman describes the track as a love/hate song addressed to a cook named Mary. Musically, it remained rooted in the Britpop sound which influenced Saracuse during their early years, with Shooman drawing comparisons with the music surrounding Oasis and Robbie Williams during the period.
