Info:

What’s Going On was one of four tracks recorded during Saracuse’s first known studio session at Bedrock Studios in December 1998.

The song features prominent tom-tom drums alongside a blues-influenced guitar part played by Chris Karloff. In Sound, Movement and Empire, Joe Shooman describes the lyrics as concerning staying awake through the night talking, cheap thrills and eventually breaking free for somewhere better.

Despite sharing its title with Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, the two songs are unrelated.

The track was recorded live and multi-tracked alongside Interlude, Life Of Luxury and Shine On as part of Saracuse’s first studio demo.

No recording of the track is known to have surfaced.
